An afternoon in Toulouse

Last week I started off a short vacation by going to Toulouse, where I basically only spent the late afternoon and evening before driving elsewhere in a rental car the next day. Even though I have been there a number of times in the past, I still tried to see as much as possible -- and obviously take some pictures. I even came across some impromptu open air tango dancing along the Garonne. Here is the little report that I made: http://tinyurl.com/o6yev4w

Great report and pictures, kerouac. We were in Toulouse just a couple of weeks ago but your photos are so much better than ours. Thank you for reminding us of the delights of Toulouse. I am going to send your link to our son who just spent four weeks studying there as I know he will love it.

Thanks once more for interesting report and photos. Laughed out loud at the statue with the birds on his arm!

I loved Toulouse, and thank you for bringing back many wonderful memories!

Thanks, Kerouac!

The Tango you have seen was part of the Tangopostal festival that celebrates the links between Toulouse and Buenos Aires established by the "Aeropostale" French airline company that flew to Argentina first time in 1928. The Aeropostale HQ were in Toulouse and one its pilots was Antoine de Saint Exupéry (the author of the Petit Prince!).

I get up to Toulouse, about 45 min drive, 6-7 times a year. You manage to "see" more in a few hours than I do in a year! Thank you.

Thanks, kerouac. Looks like another interesting French town I need to get to. You have a real knack for posting and photography! And who know President Wilson's first name wasn't Woodrow (and I just finished reading a book about US Presidents)! See, education can be fun! ;-)

Ah! The burning heat of Toulouse - I remember it well.
Thank you for once again letting me see your France.

God, I love France. Your photos are, as usual, fascinating and beautiful.

When I was young I was obsessed with the artist Toulouse-Lautrec and even convinced my mother to name one of our family dogs after him (our Toulouse was a girl).

I must (will) visit someday. Merci mille fois!

Toulouse will still be there for you whenever you get there.

Wonderful and informative as usual. Merci...

Those church towers reminded me of Avignon.

Yes, the styles in that part of France are quite similar.

Kerouac,

Thanks for the wonderful pictures. I lived in Toulouse as a child (5-8yrs old). Makes me want to go back and revisit the city on our next trip to France. I also sent it onto my mother who especially enjoyed it.
