Hi,

Amsterdam is a great city and there is much to see and do. It depends on what sort of thing you like realy.

Personally I spent a weekend there not so long back and went to http://www.hotels-amsterdam-netherla...m/rijksmuseum/ which is in Museumplein. There are a number of fab museums there which are very worthwhile. It may take a little while to get round them but really they are worth while.

There is a lot more than just these museums in Adam but being a family friendly site I think we had best leave those for now

If I had just a day there I would take a canal boat trip lasting 1-2 hours which would introdue you to the city.
Then pick out some section or particular place that would interest you to wander in or a museum you would want to see. The Ann Frank House would be at the top of my list.
I wish you had more time there. Spent a week and still there are things I would like to do and see.

We had 6 hours between flights so we took a canal boat trip. Maryanne is right-it gives you a good introduction to the city.
The rest of our time was spent looking for somewhere nice to eat. It was a Saturday and the place was full of stag weekenders. I was not impressed to see a couple of guys throwing up at the side of a canal.
I hope you have a nice day there!

If you want to see the Anne Frank museum I'd start there because the lines can be very long, and seeing it will take 1-2 hours.
There seems to be a lot of Amsterdam information here

Here is the website for the Anne Frank House

www.jack-travel.com has some great walking routes;you can pick one.
