I've yet to see a "pimp" hanging around the windows of the RL district.
Cameras...believe me, these are not the "women of your dreams" regardless of your orientation. |
You didn't say what time of year you would be in Amsterdam. We walked through the RLD at 10 pm in July a few years ago and it was still daylight.

While we were in Amsterdam we both wanted to see what was in the RLD, My wife and I, after visiting the central
we crossed a canal and found the street that goes to it, At the start of the street there a lot of really good restaurants so we ate at a greek place and then started walking down the street but the farther we walked into it the less females there was, and by the time we could see the windows it was all young men and no females so we turned around. We were there Sept 14-16 '04, I just don't see it as a place for a single female to go to unless thats the type of place you're use to? |
traveler2004- have you checked back to your thread? i was curious for your opinion of what we've all posted on your behalf.

If a gang of gypsies empty my purse, will I be able to earn some money on such a "tour"?
|
IMHO, the Red Light District is quite over-rated. Besides some ladies standing in the glass urns, there are some adult type of (toy) shops, shows, "museums" and hemp cafes (mostly Americans inside). It is not uncommon to see single lady tourists or (tourists with) children. I think in about 45 minutes you will realize that the more you explore, the more it is the same.
If you haven't seen it already, I highly recomment the Flower Market (Amstelween?), which is the single most amazing thing I saw in my 4 days there. |
