Berlin / Tourist sites / MITTE
Five free hours - one afternoon (possibly two) in Berlin - Mitte....Can we walk to the following tourist attractions? How many minutes (leisurely stroll) are they from each other? With summer lines and time spent inside etc., how many of these locations are practical to plan? How would we "bunch" them into 2 groups - one for another day?
Bebelplatz , Alexanderplatz,Berliner Fernsehturm, Berliner Dom, Gendarmenmarkt, Unter den Linden, DDR Museum, Denkmal fur die Ermordeten Juden Europas

The Bundestag is also very close by the Bradnenberg Gate where the Unter den Linden begins - the new American Embassy flanks it and behind that the poignant Jewish Memorial
Detour a few blocks off Unter den Linden and take in the remains of Checkpoint Charlie - the old crossing place from West to East Berlin and check out its museum!

The only one of the places you mentioned that will see crowds and lines is the TV Tower at Alexanderplatz. You can buy timed tickets in advance, but still allow a minimum of 30 minutes to get through security, go up, take a look, go down. 45-60 minutes is more realistic.
Berliner Dom does not get very crowded. 30 minutes to climb (!) up and down.
DDR Museum is not really huge. You don't need a lot of time to visit. IF you need to take some item off your list, this would be my first choice.
The "rest" is just walking.. and taking in the views as brief or long as you want.

The route from East to West would be
Alexanderplatz - TV Tower- DDR Museum - Berliner Dom - Bebelplatz - Gendarmenmarkt - Jewish Memorial.
A possible extension would be Jewish Memorial - Brandenburger Tor - Reichstag (visits require prior reservation).
Walking time only would be 30 minutes, excluding stops, visits etc.
You can catch bus 100 at Reichstag to take you back to Alexanderplatz. Or the S-Bahn at Brandenburger Tor station.
Unter den Linden boulevard still is a major (overground) construction site for the new subway. The buildings and sights are of course still visible and accessible. But the stroll "down the Linden" is not as scenic or quaint as some travel guides say while the construction is still going on.

Very easy to do all, easily walkable. Some are very quick sites. I was there 2 weeks ago and construction took up a lot of Bebelplatz. From there just a 5 min walk or less to Gendarmenmarkt.
Personally I would take in the Deutsches Historisches Museum vs the DDR Museum. I was okay with the latter but preferred the former.

Consider renting a bike for the afternoon at Fat Tire at either Alexanderplatz or Zoo. The bikes are super easy/casual/safe riders, and the distances in Berlin are annoyingly long and unrewarding - - a bike makes it a breeze.

Bike rentals? We have not ridden a bike in years. Safe? Easy? Designated bike paths?

Mauerpark flea market in on Sundays only, sorry.
Bike rentals - you find them literally anywhere in town. From hotels to convenience stores, the number of places which rent bikes has literally exploded. Or use the big names like Fat Tire as dfourh suggested.
Bike paths are hit and miss. Some are designated paths on the sidewalks, some are just a lane on the street without a physical barrier to car traffic. Otherwise you'd be using the bus lane where it exists or share the road. You must not use the sidewalks even when they are wide and there is no bike lane.
The Reichstag and the Chancellery are two seperate buildings. The plenary sessions happen in the Reichstag - and do not get translated as you assumed. They are usually dull, and you rarely see a roaring "full house". Many times, only few MPs are present during the discussions. And only for voting - if there is a vote - a substantial number of MPs will join.
Most visitors will find a visit of the dome more rewarding.
