Amsterdam Visit
 

Dear All,

We are planning for a Europe visit and the last city we will visit is Amsterdam. However, we need to take our return flight back home from Milan. I have seen EasyJet Flights from Amsterdam that will enable us to catch our return flight. My question is..is EasyJet reliable? Are they normally on time and do they change their flight schedules often?

Visiting Amsterdam for me is not new and it will be new to my husband. We are planning to stay for 3 nights in this city. What are other places to visit in this city aside from the coffeeshops and the red district? Are there budget inns or hotels to stay there in the month of August?

Princesse, as I replied on your other post, Easyjet is good and cheap. As reliable as any airline.

Other things to see aside from coffeeshops and the red district???? Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House?

I have stayed at these 2 places and recommend both.

No trip to Amsterdam would be complete without visiting

There is so much more to this city than sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

I went to Amsterdam for four days and had a great time and I didn't go to the Van Gogh museum.

I most enjoyed touring the canals and walking through the canal district, and I never visited the red light district.

of course museums are required but they are sure fun :)

I'm a museum hound. In fact, I went to Amsterdam precisely so I could visit the Rijksmuseum, the Stedjelik and 3 museums in Den Haag, most especially to see the work of Mondrian (the largest collection is in Den Haag). I didn't go to the van Gogh museum because throughout the course of my life I have been to 3 major van gogh exhibits, and have spent a great deal of time looking at van Gogh's work in museums in New York and Paris which have extensive collections.

So my visit to Amsterdam was complete without van Gogh -- although I doubt I will ever feel I am completely through with Amsterdam, even if I do get around to going to the van Gogh museum there.

PS: One of the museums I went to in Den Haag I only knew about because I'd seen Robert Altman's biographical movie of van Gogh's life, one scene of which takes place in the Panorama Mesdag. But I still didn't feel any need to go to the van Gogh museum.

Hi; I certainly agree with the posters. There is just so much in Amsterdam. Our first visit to Amsterdam and Europe in 1989, on stage in Dam square, actors were recreating the play, Cabaret. What a sensational greeting/feeling for our first trip to Europe. Drop the sex and coffehouses from your thoughts. iris1745/dick
