Amsterdam,Venice,or Prague

We will be going back to Denmark next summer to visit friends. They would like us to take a train trip with them to one of these cities. Since we have only been to Copenhagen, I have no idea which would be the most interesting place to vist.

Amsterdam is interesting - but it is a lot like a big city. I was in Prague last year and just loved it. It is a wondeful place - incredible music, great people, easy to get around, beautiful castles. I highly recommend it!
You will probably have more opportunities in the future to get to Amsterdam & Venice, so I'd go for Prague also. Of course, if your friends want to pay for the trip, go to Venice & see lots of Europe on the way.....

We vacationed in Prague in May. It's a beautiful and interesting city - less expensive than most European cities. The people are very friendly. I would like to go there again and see all that we missed the first time. I have also been to Venice - very beautiful and storybookish. Very expensive. Both cities are certainly worth visiting - very different. I think I would probably go back to Prague if I had a choice. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the responses. Karen and Peggy, what hotel did you stay in while in Praque? What hotels would you recommend?
Thanks, Ruth

Check nethotels.com and www.avetravel.cz for good hotels/penzions in Prague. We stayed at Penzion Balbin near the Muzeum Metro & Wenceslas Square. It is about 5-10 minute walk to just about anywhere you want to go, shower & toilet in room, clean, good buffet breakfast. We paid $35 for 2 in November, 1997, and it was $85 in high season the next year.

I am witht he others in bypasing Amsterdam for one of the other 2 cities, if for nothing else, than contrast. I'd pick Prague, though Venice is incredible. Prague will probably be more reasonable weather-wise. It is incredibly cheap by comparrison to Venice and so much to see. I stayed at the Hotel Union in Praha 2. It is right on a tram line into the King Wenceslas square area. The rooms were great and it has a good restaurant.
