I'll be honest and say I never saw one. Seriously. We didn't spend much time near the RLD though (only to Oude Kerk) and didn't purposely seek them out. It's just not my thing.

amyb,

Thanks for the transportation information! Hopefully I'll be able to fit a visit to the gardens in.

Thanks so much Amy for your great trip report and beautiful pictures. We are doing a river cruise in 2 weeks from Basel to Amsterdam and staying 3 extra days in Amsterdam. Kuekenhoff is at the top of our list along with Ann Frank museum. I read the book in high school and then again years later and that is at the top of my wish list! Can't wait especially after seeing your pictures.

To avoid the sometimes long lines at Ann Frank house, make your reservations on line on their website.

Love your report, amy.

I went to Amsterdam (and a few other places) in May 2005. Also thought the Museum card was the best deal ever.

I totally agree with you on The Night Watch. It was so impressive, just took my breath away.

Do you still remember the rate at Hotel Zandbergen?

Interesting to hear your take on the Kroller-Muller. I have never been, but have thought about visiting in future trips.

May I ask why you didn't go to Hals museum in Haarlem?

BTW, I saw in your photo album that you went to Spain in 2006? Did you write a TR for that? [If you did, can you either top it or post a link? :) Thanks!]

I just returned from Amsterdam three weeks ago and had a wonderful time there. I WILL do a trip report sometime soon.

I stayed at the Hotel Brouwer and strongly recommend it. It is in a lovely and convenient location right on the Singel Canal. The rooms are charming and all have canal views. The price is quite reasonable (90 euros for a double). All rooms have private baths and the hotel has an elevator (a small one, but that wasn't a problem).

yk, 7 nights last year was 885 euro at the Hotel Zandbergen.

I just topped my Spain TR for you.

Thanks amy.

I just thought about this book last night ( I had read it last year, but DH just started the other day) - I Was Vermeer by Frank Wynne. It is about Han van Meegeren, who was the greatest forger of Vermeer's painting in history. Interesting read, and part of it took place in Amsterdam.
