Amsterdam - transit Help
 

On our way to Cairo, we will be stoping over for a day (in Feb 05). Going with 2 children (10&8).

Can you advise what I should see or do in this very short time in Amsterdam..??

Have you looked at the miniguide to Amsterdam under "destinations" at www.fodors.com?

You might consider doing one of the canal boat tours (the ones without the meals) which give a nice, general overview.

There is a hop-on,hop-off type canal tour. If the canals are not frozen.

Also, I recomend the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House. With only one day you might not have time for the Rijksmuseum.

Depending on the weather, Vondelpark is quite beautiful.
