amsterdam to brussels

I am flying into amsterdam and have to get to brussels. What is the best way.

Regional train takes about 3.5 hours - train station is in Schiphol airport, and ticket office is there, too. Very easy. Train will stop at Gare Midi and Gare Central, I believe. Gare Central is closest to Grand Place.
Thalys (high-speed line) also travels from Amsterdam to Paris via Brussels, but the Ams-Bru leg is not high-speed track, so no need to pay the extra $.
3.5 hours is really the worst scenario!
There are direct intercity trains leaving from Amsterdam Schiphol every hour at .40 and arriving in Brussels Central exactly 2.5 hours later.

What Myriam says!

Train schedules at:
www.ns.nl

You want the intercity (IC) trains. Don't bother with Thalys trains on this route - they're more expensive, you need to reserve and they're no faster.

The Schiphol airport train station is right in the arrivals hall. It's truly a painless journey.

Andre

Maybe it was 2.5 hrs... I'm sorry to mislead anyone. My point was we did not use Thalys last October. Nice ride, no connections.
Also, what about a flight connecting from Schiphol to Brussels? I'm thinking it probably wouldn't save much time, and the train is at Schiphol and arriving Brussels city-center, sounds easier.

The train is really the simplest way to travel to the city of Brussels. Most probably even faster (because of check-in time when flying) and cheaper for sure!
