Amsterdam this weekend (2/4-2/7) - HELP!

We (my husband, two YOUNG girls, and I) live in Germany and will drive to Amsterdam on Friday for a 3-day visit. Want to see a couple of museums, the Anne Frank House, a canal boat tour, etc. Whatever the girls (ages 1 and 2)can put up with.

Anyhow, I think I've made a mistake on hotels. I currently have a room for three nights at 317 Euro at the Best Western Eden downtown. It's not getting good reviews on tripadvisor. Can anyone recommend a place for us? I tried Hotel Brouwer (sp?) and they're already booked. Looking for a great location and a little bit of breathing room for our family of four.

I stayed at Hotel NH City Centre (not Amsterdam Centre) for one week last month. The superior room is newly renovated, spacious and bright, really comfortable.

The location is quite good: 5 minutes walk to Dam Square, but on a quiter street with several good restaurant around; 5 minutes walk to floating flower market and Begijnhof,2-3 minutes walk to tram Stop-with 4 lines (2 stops) to Central Station, Line #2,#5 to museums area and Leidseplein within 10 minutes.

The buffet breakfast is expensive (16 Euro), but a little cafe around the corner serves good and cheap breakfast, the bakery next door has the best sandwiches I have ever had in Europe.

I forgot to mention: I had good deal from www.expedia.ca.

A few years ago we stay at the hotel Estherea and liked it quite a bit.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Hotel Estherea. We made reservations with them for this weekend. We have a rate of 144 Euro for three nights for a TRIPLE room which includes one double bed, one single bed, and one baby bed! Also negotiated the rate to include breakfast! YEAH!
