Amsterdam taxi from airport--how much does it cost?

I am going to be in Amsterdam for a day before a cruise this summer. Does anyone know what the current cost is for a taxi from the aiport? Thanks.

The question though is why do you need a taxi to get to Amsterdam from Schiphol?

Are you aware how easy it is to get the train into Amsterdam? Schiphol station is inside the airport and it's a direct train into Amsterdam central station.

In my case, I wanted a taxi because I was arriving after midnight. In August 2005, the fixed price was 37 Euros. I didn't go for the fixed price, and it ended up being 37.40 Euros. You can get a fixed price at the airport desk if you like. Maybe the current fixed price is on the Schipol web site.

Also, someone going on a cruise likely has lots of luggage, which is another reason someone might want a taxi.

Haven't used it yet, but there is a shuttle... Conexxion? something like this, it's listed on the airport website.

We opted for the train when we were there a couple of weeks ago, but our hotel sent us some very specific information about taking cabs and said we should expect the charge to be about €35.

I have already booked my reservation in the Jordaan section of Amsterdam, near the Anne Frank House.

The following message was added by the hotel receptionist to my confirmation.

"If you are taking a direct taxi from Schiphol airport to the hotelthe estimated cost should be about 40 euro - mention this to your driver to
protect against possible overcharging.

That should answer your question.

Thanks for the help. Actually I think I want to take a taxi because there will be 3 of us and one of the other people is elderly and thinks a taxi will be better. We really won't have a lot of luggage so there should be room in the cab. If we share it will be pretty reasonable. I would take the train if I were alone.
