Well, the weather has been holding up nicely, and we're having a true Indian summer, but beach season is effectively over. Might as well take the bus to Wijk aan Zee (equally tongue in cheek, but slightly more serious)

I was solo in Amsterdam in my 40's for 5 days. I had a great time. I just kept my eyes open for places to eat in the neighborhood around my hotel (Leidseplein area). I had some fabulous Italian food, from a place that sold by weight (like 'cafeteria' style you picked what you wanted). I found a fun Greek restaurant that the food was OK and the people so nice I ate their twice. I had an excellent picnic dinner one night with items I picked up from a 'health food store'.
