Amsterdam--SAS Radison.......Too close to the Red Light District??

Hi to all:
I am heading to Amsterdam for 6 nights in the Spring. I thought this would be a good place to stay until I read that is was very close to the Red Light District. Any concerns?? The NTB says it is on a quiet street!! What do you think??

The Radisson SAS is close to the Red Light District, but indeed on a quiet street. If you want to avoid the RLD, you can. It is a good hotel and my company often books foreign guests in it, I have never heard a complaint.

Unless things have changed dramatically in the last 2/3 years the Red Light District is more a fun area than a threatening one, and I'm talking non "clients" here. Can anyone update us on this?

Tony, the Red Light District is still fun and safe (beware of pickpockets, some people have their wallet stolen while they are looking at "something else")
www.boomchicago.nl has a good description of the RLD.

Thanks very much. The rate I got at this hotel was great and I am looking forward to my visit...I'll be asking for more info as the trip gets closer!
