Amsterdam Restaurants

Hi

We are a group of 4 40+ couples heading to Amsterdam for a weekend in mid November. We are staying in the Radisson any suggestions for a nice restaurant for eight. As we dont have many indonisean restaurants locally an indonesian might be nice. Thanks

I can't give you a specific name, but those Indonesian Rijsttafels places would be fun. It's like taps, lost of small plates. With a group of 8 you can try all kinds of things.

Did you see Rachael Ray's $40 a Day on Amsterdam? We tried The Pancake Bakery by the Anne Frank house and that was good, but for Indonesian food she suggeted Indrapura, http://www.indrapura.nl/. You might check out their website.

A very popular Indonesian restaurant, with a rijstafel is Kantjil & Tijger on Spuistraat (number 291-293) tel Amsterdam 620 0994. I didn't get there but my brother did when he visited me in 2000, he and his wife enjoyed it. His only complaint was the great quantities fo food! The trams to the Leidseplein from Central Station stop outside.
Another place they enjoyed was the floating chinese restaurant called the Sea Palace on Oosterdokskade, a 10 minute walk from Central Station, their phone number is Amsterdam 626 4777.

We had a great experience at Sama Sebo.
You'll need a reservation, though. It is not very big.

Hi coletteti,

We (also a group of four couples) just returned from Amsterdam and really enjoyed Indrapura.

Another restaurant you might consider is d'Vijff Vlieghen (The Five Flies). We had an excellent dinner there.

Have a wonderful time in Amsterdam!

Here's another vote for Kantjil & Tijger - absolutely loved this place! We also had Indonesian at The Blue Pepper, which was more expensive and more hip (if that's your thing) and also totally delicious.
