Amsterdam restaurants

My husband and I are going to Amsterdam with two other couples in May. Although there are lots of reviews on yelp, etc. I seem to do better when I have a restaurant to check out on the site rather than scrolling through.
We would like to have Indonesian one night--(Sama sebo, Blauw?) or other suggestions. I have never had it before so what do I need to know, if anything?
I wanted to book de Kas but they were not available on the nights we are there. Does anyone have a suggestion for an interesting alternative--(Dutch, mediterranean?) mid price? Someone mentioned Proeverji on the website--is it a limited menu or a possible good choice?
Our hotel is in the west canal ring but it seems like Amsterdam is small enough that we could go anywhere.

A few years ago I made a quick trip into Amsterdam while researching for one of my books. I recalled one Indonesian and one Dutch restaurant where I had enjpoyed dining back in 1987....to my delight they were both still there. One is Sluizers on Utrechtestaat....wonderful fresh fish dinners at reaonsable prices. Meat dishes aso available in an adjoining part of the restaurant.

The Indonesian is among more than a dozen such places on busy Rembrandtplein....called Jaykarta...superb and authentic at fair prices also. You won't starve in Amsterdam. Just be adventurous and have fun.

I just read about The Seafood Bar, which I will be trying on my next trip.

Last year we wanted one meal that was traditional Dutch. We enjoyed everything we ordered (especially the pea soup) at Haesje Claes http://www.haesjeclaes.nl.

I'd choose Blauw over Sama Sebo, definitely.

Thought I would follow up to say that we went to Blau and Sluizer.
We enjoyed the rice table at Blau and since we were with two other couples, we had lots of things to try and I can't say I know what we had. Everything was good, however.
We really liked Sluizer. The food was delicious and they also have a 3 course surprise on the menu where they give you a choice of fish or meat. I had a grilled fish dish (not the surprise) that was really great. The staff was friendly and the manager came over to talk to us after dinner. Definitely recommend it.
