Most people visit...

Van Gogh Museum
Anne Frank House
Rijksmuseum
Canal cruise
Vondel Park
Jordaan neighborhood.

Go to library and get a few guidebooks for general info.

Where do you plan to stay?
May I suggest http://www.vrbo.com/82969

How long do you want to stay in the Netherlands? What means of transport will you be using - public or a (rental) car?
What interests you? Beaches, countryside, cities, museums? We need more info please.

We are planning to visit our daughter that lives in Amsterdam for 5 days then we want to travel from there. We were thinking about Czech Republic or Poland. Should we drive or fly or go by train? We will have 2 weeks.

you can only hire a car and return to to the Netherlands if you do not wish to in cure high fees to repatriate the car. Is that your plan?
Besides I would suggest you stay in the Netherlands as it has so much to offer tour by car bike or trains all is easy. Please answer hetis' question what do you wnat to see on this visit?

Have you been to the Netherlands before? Belgium? If not, I would spend the two weeks visiting some of the lovely towns like Haarlem, Delft & Leiden in the Netherlands and places like Bruges & Ghent in Belgium: beautiful architecture everywhere, fabulous museums, good food, interesting history. Why spend money to get someplace else when you are already in such a gorgeous area?
