Amsterdam - Keukenhof/Flower Fields

We're headed out on a trip to Denmark next weekend that wraps up with three days in Amsterdam. I know that three days in Amsterdam will not be enough, but we only had limited time. I've always been interested is seeing the flower fields. However, it seems we are arriving (May 22nd) at the end of the season. I see that Keukenhof closes on May13th. Are there fields still in bloom at that point in May, and if so, is it reasonable to consider travel out from Amsterdam to see them? Again, I suspect this may be for another trip, but wanted to check before I write it off for this trip.

Thank you!

Highly unlikely there will still be tulips that late I'm afraid. We had a bout of warm weather in April which brought them into flower, and it is again warm now. There are few fields still in full bloom up here in the north, but when we went through the bulbfields around Lisse a couple of weeks ago many of them were being deheaded already. The Keukenhof site says most of the field around the park are already over.

don't those fields grow other flowers besides tulips?

Thanks for the information. It’s what I suspected, but wanted to be sure.
