Amsterdam Jazz Clubs?

I'll be in Amsterdam with my daughter and son-in-law from April 27-May 1. We will be the Jordaan district. I'm wondering if any of you have any recommendations for good jazz clubs in Jordaan or other parts of Amsterdam. Thanks in advance!

We're jazz fans too and are going to be there in May and I've been doing a little research. I've run across Bimhuis which apparently is pricey--www.bimhuis.nl, Alto Jazz Cafe at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 115 tel. 020/626-3249, Bourbon Street at Leidsekruisstraat 6 tel. 020/623-3440, Bamboo Bar at Lange Leidsedwarsstraat 66 tel. 020/624-3993, Westergasfabriek at at Haarlemmerweg 6-10 tel. 020/621-1211, and De IJsbreker Muziekcentrum, apparently very cutting-edgeon the Amstel River so. of Singelgracht at Weesperzijde 23 tel. 020/688-1805 and also check out www.jazz-in-amsterdam.nl.

I haven't been to any of these places so really know nothing about them, but maybe someone here does.

If you go, I'd appreciate you posting about it as we're not leaving 'til May 4.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the information. I won't be getting back home till 5/9, but if I get online while at my daughters, I'll try to remember to post about what I find.

rapunzll,

I can't help you with jazz in Amsterdam but if you go over to Haarlem on Thursday night go to in den Uiver on the north side of the Grote Kerk (Big Church). They also have jazz on Sunday evenings. It's a small cafe brimming with all the usual locals plus a jazz group in a corner in the anterior area. One of my favorite bars, especially on Thursday and Sunday.

The night of April 29 is Queen's Day Eve when festivities get started. Rumor has it that Heinekin sponsors an all night blast somewhere in the city. On Q Day I recommend the Spui. It has plenty of music and too plenty of drinking people. I wish I could be there this year.

That's great to know about Haarlem! We were thinking about going there on Sunday after going to Kuekenhoff, but were worried that most things would be closed. It will be just my daughter and I that day since my sil has to work, so that might be perfect! Thanks!
