Amsterdam in April

We will be beginning a Viking River Cruise in April 2013. I know noone can predict the weather in advance but would a canal cruise in Amsterdam be a good idea in April. Anybody recommend a tour company they have used? Thanks

There are cruises which leave from almost in front of Central Station. For a few euros less just walk a block down Damrak. We found the Hop on Hop Off canal boat worked for us last visit.
Most will have retractable clear roofs if the weather is chilly or turns to rain.

I've done it in the depths of winter - they had plenty of heating on board, and a free coffee.

It's OK there, I was there even in March - I liked it very much, the city is fantastic from the water

Great! Thanks All. It looks like weather is never a problem with the canal cruise. We will definately give it a whirl.

Some cruises may not go out into the busy harbor but I like the ones that do as you get a nifty view of the ancient Amsterdam skyline from the water - just like ancient mariners did when they were arriving (with perhaps anticipation of getting to the Sailor's Quarter, then as now known as the Red-Light District.

At night wine and cheese cruises are offered.
