Amsterdam Hotels - Hotel Estherea ?

Has anyone stayed there recently? We have booked it for a 3 night stay in October and a friends travel agent noted they have " service" issues. NOt sure what they were referring to-
perhaps just a reaction to our not using the agent to book / stay in a more expensive hotel?
Also wondering if the hotel is a convenient location- prefer to walk to most museums/ restaurant etc?
Other hotels recommended would be great as well
Thank you

I stayed ther last week for three nights.
I cannot recommend the hotel more highly.
It was my fifth visit to Amsterdam...the hotel is perfectly located on a canal.
Not sure what services your agent is talking about unless it is that theree is no
restaurant at the hotel after the breakfast is served, there is a coffe machine in the beautiful
lobby all day, room service and bar food in the evening.
Number of restorante is on Spui , a minute. behind the hotel.
Walking to the museum area took about 15-20 min...or one can take a tram .

We stayed there in May, 2011. Loved it! I think I had booked a 'superior' room but not sure. Anyway, our room overlooked an interior garden/atrium not an outside street. But that wasn't a problem. The room was a good size and the bathroom was marvelous. The breakfast is plentiful, lots of choices, and very good. I loved the decor of the public areas. I would definitely stay there again. I walked from there to Anne Frank House and we also walked to the Van Gogh museum from there. We had no problem with service.
Enjoy your stay.

And, they charge €18 pp for breakfast. That would have made our stay there an extra $300. We cancelled.
