1) Bounce you back up.

2) If you don't get your answer, I can vouch for a different hotel and that being the Hotel Villa Borgmann. It's just off Vondelpark in a nice residential (quiet) neighborhood.

Lee,
I checked out the Hotel Villa Borgmann, but they didnt have any rooms available for my dates. Looks like a nice place. I will check it out on my next trip to Amsterdam. Thank you

Jandao... Sorry haven't stayed there, but I'm a big fan of the Hotel Washington. Don't know about availability tho. Have a grand time!

There is a good bit of favorable comments about it here, Tripadvisor, etc. Single 60-80E, Double 70-115E.

Hi. I just got back from Amsterdam and I must say that the Holiday Inn Amsterdam was very nice. It is a 5 star hotel and it was only 97 euros a night. Each time I go back to Amsterdam, I'll be staying there.

It is not in the city center. It was a 20 euro cab fare to the hotel from Central Station. The Holiday Inn Amsterdam is right next to a metro stop. It takes about 15 minutes by subway to get to Central Station. If you book it, book it online. It saves you a little money. www.sixcontinenthotels.com

JandaO, You are most welcome. Like Danna mentioned, I seem to remember some nice things being said about the Hotel Washington.

Tip: Take the trolley whenever the walk is too far. It's easy and inexpensive. Have a great trip.

We stayed at the Canal house. Loved the hotel and the surrounding neighborhood - great restaurants all within 2 blocks. It is also about 2 blocks from the Anne Frank house and within walking distance to public transportation but then everything is AMsterdam is within walking distance. Great walking City. Enjoy.

Based on what I could see re: the 2 hotels JandaO listed, I think recommendations for more budget accomodations are desired...Anyone have any to mention..?

I loved the neighborhood of Leidseplein and Vondelpark. Have only been in Amsterdam once (last summer) and wouldn't particularly recommend my budget hotel choice (Hotel Kap). Found this website helpful: www.amsterdamhotspots.nl

Anyone stayed in the Hemp Hotel or any of the hostels?
