Amsterdam hotels

Hello- I'm looking for any suggestions for a hotel in Amsterdam. Would like to be near nightlife but would settle for walking distance if thats a scary part of town! Want to spend $70-$100 a night for room with private bathroom. Thanks

We like The Bridge Hotel (www.thebridgehotel.nl, I think...). We've stayed there on every trip and have always been pleased with it. Our rate has never been more than $90 a night. It's on the corner of Amstel and Prinsengracht. We've always stayed in the same room (#123) which is is quite spacious with views over the river and canal and has a large bathroom. Breakfast is included in the price. It's about a 5 minute walk to the nearest tram and metro stop and about a five minute walk to Waterlooplein.

Hotel Doelen, quiet location at the university end of the old town.

Been to Amsterdam three times now and my favourite is the Dolen - in the university area which is a very nice area, also close for nightlife.

I stayed at the Hestia Hotel and the rate is between what you are looking for. It os a 5 minute walk to the Leidsplein area - lots of restaurants and bars. You can find their website by searching trough a search engine.
