Amsterdam hotel with a canal view
 

I am looking for a hotel in Amsterdam with a canal view and in the center of the city. If it is possible with and elevator and with air conditioner. I am planning to go in July and to spend no more than 200 to 250 euros/night. Thanks.

Everything is possible but be aware that most hotel in Amsterdam do not have AC. In order to get it you may need to up your budget. (Last time I was there was about 6 years ago and we found mostly 5* places to have AC. But do check the discount web sites including that amenity.)

There is of course no guarantee that your room will have a canal view unless the hotel specifically offers them - usually at a premium. Canal views often mean facing the street, so potentially noisy too.

Have a look at the booking sites, but don't be put off if they say there is no availability - contact the hotel, or look at the hotel website and see if they still have rooms which they keep back from the booking sites.

Somewhere like Dikker en Thijs Fenice may meet your requirements. I never stay in Amsterdam so I can't personally recommend a hotel.

I would definitely look for A/c. We enjoy Sebastian's on the Keizergracht (really a beautiful canal) or their sister and more expensive The Toren Hotel. Rooms facing the canal are priced much higher and while always a fan of wonderful views in a city like Amsterdam I think locating in an area such as this is more important than the actual view from the room...as mentioned the canal view rooms have more street noise both from cars/trucks and peds. We have stayed both in canal view rooms and in the back and prefer the back for the quiet. Love this area...so many areas of Amsterdam are like the craziest state fair or worse but these side streets are where the charm is.

I stayed at Canal House...yes to AC, yes to rooms with a canal view and yes to elevator...but I think it is more than your budget....beautiful hotel with a garden, small restaurant and great location.

Estherea is terrific, but I am not sure if canal facing rooms are in your range.

Brouwer Hotel .. older hotel., no elevator and no ac, .but great views and breakfast.

I have been to Amsterdam 4 times in summer.. july or august and never needed ac, actually have always needed a sweater if anything..

Just back from Amsterdam, where I learned that the phrase "city center" means near the Central Station.

It isn't near places like the Anne Frank House, the museums, etc.

Be sure to look carefully at a map before you book.

We also wanted a canal view & ac and found these apartments, that were just perfect, walking distance to everything. They do not have an elevator but we had the 1st floor unit.

We had a lovely room at the Canal House - huge picture window overlooking the street and canal. I don't remember it being noisy, not a very busy street. It was a splurge for us - we loved it!

Many of Amsterdam's canals are lined by elm trees I think - lower-level canal-side rooms may not always have views where you can see the canals!

and yes like hetismij says canals have one-way streets on each side of them and though not many cars come down taxis IME of sitting along canals a lot can screech their tires like you never heard! Even late at night.

Not to mention all the bicycle horns, late at night, early in the morning, all day long...
