Amsterdam Hotel Location

Considering Hampton by Hilton Amsterdam Centre East (or) Element Amsterdam - which, generally speaking, is a better location to get around. Thank you.

Neither of those hotels are at all central -- one is in the eastern dock area and one is quite far south near-ish Amstelpark. Are these the only two hotels you are considering?

The reason Hampton and Element were selected is because we are using hotel points, however, we are open to suggestions. Thank you.

I would go with the Hampton because you are close to the (#7 ) tram, and it's a pretty ride through the neighborhoods and past the Artis - - you'll still have to transfer to get to Rembrandtsplein or the Dam and beyond, though it will be easy and pleasant. If you stay at the Element it's a longer walk to a tram with a long, uninteresting trek into town, and it's a tedious landscape down there south of the Zuid station.

I would do the Hampton. Because it is so near Borneo Island too. That's a very nice area that a lot of people overlook because they are focused on the city centre. By the way, that's the #26 tram that gets you to Amsterdam CS in 20 minutes. If you go past your stop to the #26 terminus, you'll be at KNSM Eiland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KNSM_Island. Such a great area to have dinner, or go for drinks, well known to Amsterdammers but not so much to tourists. KNSM Eiland also has a good ferry to North where you'll dock at Zamenhoffstraat and Hotel De Goud Fazant, which I would advise you to book for dinner one night.

Element is at Gelderlandplein, heart of Jewish Amsterdam (I used to be a bookseller at Joachimsthal, which had its shop there). Almost the entire jewish infrastructure of Amsterdam is located around AJ Ernststraat. Good dining opportunities though, because you're close to the Zuidas financial district. A few very good Japanese restaurants: Buitenveldert and Amstelveen also have a large Japanese community.

We like to stay in the Central Canal area, Hotel l’ Ambassade.

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS AMSTERDAM - CITY HALL

Valkenburgerstraat 14, Amsterdam, 1011 LZ Netherlands (Holland)
Here is a new one we looked at.
This one seems to be a better choice?

The Holiday in is ok if you know what to expect. Small rooms, some with no outlook, spartan interiors. Nothing is what I would say is value for money in central Amsterdam.

I'd still book the Hampton.
