Amsterdam Hotel Help
 

We are going to Amsterdam for 2 nights and we are overwhelmed with the hotel choices provided. We are between these hotels:
Amrath, De l'Europe, Dylan, The Grand.The last 2 are more expensive but they include breakfast in the rate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you ever heard of the Kepner- Tregoe desicion making process? :-D perfect application. List and rank the 5 most important features in a hotel for you. Assign a value 1-10 to each one of these features, with 10 been the best/highest for that specific attribute. Add them for each hotel. Number one is where you should stay. Simple as that :D

Are you working with a map? Are the hotels in the same part of the city?

Amrath is on the north side of the city, 500m from the Central Station; it's the former Seepvarthuis.
The Grand is located close to the RLD.
De l'europe at the Muntplein.
Dylan is close to the 9streets.
The most important factors for me is service and rooms, but since i havent been to Amsterdam before, i dont know how the hotels look like. For example both De L'Europe and the Dylan especially get favorable reviews from guidebooks, but on Tripadvisor is quite the opposite. I have risked once for Hotel De Vigny in Paris, which turned out to be a nice choice, but it would be better to know that you ll be staying at a ''safe choice''.
Amrath is nice and cheap for what it is, but breakfast is exluded. The Grand has the best reviews both on TA and on guidebooks, but i dont like its room decor that much; a bit bland for my tastes.

The Grand was once the townhall of Amsterdam, renovated into a lovely hotel and close to city center (and the redlight district).
De L'Europe is a classic hotel, city center near/on Mintsquare and opoosite flowermarket.(and once the favorite of Mr. Heineken).
Amrath recently opened, renovated and turned into a hotel,it was once an office building for a shippingcompany, a little outside city center.
Also have a look at Ambassade Hotel and Banks Mansion, both at a canal and very nice hotels.
Whatever hotel you choose, it will turn out o.k.

Just across the street from De lEurope is the Hotel Eden Rembrandt Square. It's not as "old style" but very reasonable.

Eden Rembrandt Square is fully booked during our stay.Thanks for the suggestion though!

Sorry, can't help (but will top this thread for you).

For me location in Amsterdam is more important than hotel ammenities. I like it out near Leidseplein or Vondelpark. I don't like the neighborhood near the train station and RLD at all.
