Amsterdam Hotel : Agora hotel or De Westertoren hotel
We are going to Amsterdam at the end of April. We have received good rates from both the hotel Agora (on Singel 462) and De Westertoren (on Raadhuisstraat 35).
Has anyone stayed at either one?
Which would you recommend me?
Thanks

Haven't stayed in either but did stay in Hotel Estherea (4*)last March and loved it. Also on Singel (a good location, although amsterdam is small so nothing is all that far). We were 2 adults and 2 children in a good size, attractive room and the rate was reasonable. Also had very nice breakfast and staff. even internet access in the lobby.

Hi! I can also vouch for the Hotel Estherea. We atayed there last summer (no AC). We walked in to the lobby of the Hotel Agora becaude it was reccommended in one of the guidebooks and it was near the Estherea. It was dismal...dated decor, messy, front desk person never even acknowledged us so we left.
Good luck w/your plans.

Any other responses on Hotel Agora? I just put it on the top of my list. I looked at Ambassade/Esthera, but they were more than I am am able to pay at this time. There will be a difference between at 2 and 3 start hotel. The question is whether what was noted by Jenna is just that difference or more.

Don't know i this will be helpful, but my wife and I stayed at the Westertorn in 1980 during our youthful fling through Europe. It was a very clean and friendly one star hotel. There were shared bathroom facilities. The breakfast was eaten in a family setting. The location was great; right around the corner from the Anne Frank House and a short walk to Dam square. Don't know how its changed over the last 21 years though!!
