Amsterdam Hotel?
I have a one night layover in Amsterdam and amd looking for recommendations on a nice but not elegant hotel. Since I'm taking the train from the airport, I'm ideally looking for hotel that is walking distance to such sights as: Anne Frank House, Red Light District, and coffee shops. PS: This might be unrealistic but I'd like to pay around $100 (approx.)or less for a hotel room.

I stayed at the Hotel Agora for 4 nights last year and it was close to everything. We had the family room (family of five) and it was around $130 a night, so it would be considerably less for 1 person.

We stayed at the Radisson SAS which was pretty central to everything. Paid a great weekend rate of $108 on their internet site, breakfast buffet included. Room was very nice, they even had a cosy bar downstairs.

Hotel Keizershof near the Leidesplein neighborhood is really nice. It's in an old canal house with steep sprial stairs. We stayed there for 5 nights in March and it was around 70-80 Euro per night. I thought it was charming and the breakfast was great. Address:<BR>Keizergracht 618, 1017 Amsterdam, phone: 020-6222855. They have a website with pictures - http://www.vdwp.nl/keizershof/ Have fun!

Please do not stay at the Hotel Impala in Amsterdam. The cost was ~100Euros a night for 2. The hotel was under construction. The water was turned off one morning in the middle of my shower and there was a MOUSE sharing our room....
