If I spend one night in salisbury to see stonehenge is there another place near there worth seeing?>
And on the edge of Salisbury Old Sarum is a neat site too -(especially if you read the famous book by Edward Rutheford "Sarum"): http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/v...ces/old-sarum/ https://www.google.com/search?q=old+...w=1745&bih=863 And leave time for Salisbury the city - I loved walking south of town just a tad for the famous vista of Salisbury Cathedral looming over bucolic meadows that Constaable and others put on now famous canvasses: https://www.google.com/search?q=sali...w=1745&bih=863 |
great - I will check that out too !

Where did you get the idea that Bath and York are similar?
You might check this site for accommodation, although in May the universities will still be in session. http://www.universityrooms.com |
For Salisbury check out B&Bs - lots on edges of town at a fraction of a hotel for a single and airbnb may be fine in Salisbury too.

Plenty of inexpensive (vs hotels for a single) B&Bs in Salisbury. Ditto for York. |
