Amsterdam/Brugges - 1st visit
 
We will have appr 8-10 days. How would you divide your time? Should we spend more time in Amsterdam and do day trips? Does Brugges warrant 3 nights?

Hi NNN,<BR> Is this your first visit to Holland, or to Europe?<BR><BR> It's about a 3 1/2 hr trip from Amsterdam to Brugge. <BR><BR> I would suggest staying in Amsterdam and doing day trips. Do an overnight to Brugge. It is a small town and doesn't require 3 nights.<BR><BR> If this is your first trip to Europe, I suggest 3 nights in Amsterdam, 1 night in Brugge and then on to Paris.<BR><BR> Paris to Amsterdam is about 4 hr.<BR><BR>See http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de for train schedules.<BR>

While I could agree with ira that 3 nights in Brugge might be somewhat long (I would make that 2 nights), I would spend the rest of the time in the Netherlands or Belgium instead of traveling to Paris. The &quot;low lands&quot; are well worth spending 8-10 days!

I traveled from Amsterdam to Brugge this winter, and agree with the posts that it warrants 2 days. I then traveled to Leiden (college town) and did day trips from there to Gouda (great cheese &amp; cool church) &amp; Delft (lots of pottery). Finally ended with 2 days in Amsterdam (enough for me). Hope this helps

We just returned the past 3 weeks from a 2 week stay in Paris, Brugge and
Germany.

We spent a wonderful 2 nights in Brugge.
We arrived early afternoon on a Friday
via Thalys from Paris. Departed at noon
on Sunday from Brugge to Dusseldorf via trains once again.

We absolutely adored Brugge. 2 nights is all you need to see and do and take in the wonderful, magical, mystical setting.

Brugge is truly beautiful. We were just enamored with the town and I thank the many fodor's posters for their insights
into a place I never imagined visiting.

If you are looking for lodging, I highly recommend the wonderful B&amp;B we stayed in. The Artist's House No.11.
Just a great place. We intend to visit again sometime in the next few years.

Enjoy your trip and definately plan on at least 1 night in Brugge, if not 2.
