Hi... my parents are cruising into Amsterdam - can anyone tell me the best way to get from the cruise ship area to the city centre? Any thoughts much appreciated!

Post your question on the cruise forum or on cruisecritic.com.

Andrew's link is good -- the cruise terminal is essentially IN the city center so its easy to take the tram or a short taxi ride.

You're actually there. They can walk over to the train station and take a tram almost anywhere. Or they can walk. The real question is where they want to go.

True it is w/i walking distance -- but the problem they are coming off a cruise w/ possibly a boat load of luggage.

That's a good point. You can be "cruising into Amsterdam" as a port or as a final destination. The OP doesn't say if they are staying over in Amsterdam in a hotel or just there for a bit before heading to the airport. So that's definitely relevant. I believe there are luggage lockers in the cruise terminal (at least there were when I was last there three years ago). The bad point about that is they'd have to return to the cruise terminal to get their luggage before moving on, which is an inconvenience. I"m not sure if there is luggage storage at the train station.

Oh -- good point. If it is just a shore excursion and they are sleeping on board -- it is 100% walkable.

I was coming from Amsterdam being the final port of call.
