Amsterdam Apartments & Location
 

Hi all,

We are considering a couple of apartments in Amsterdam in May. Does anyone have any input on location? We want to be in a good neighborhood where public transportation is close. We also would like to have places where we can stop for a drink or snack nearby.

Try www.bedandbreakfastamsterdam.com for Maes. They have B&B and also apartments. Close to the centre of everything, walking distance to main station, and restaurants close by.

At all places mentioned public transport is very close and frequent.
Jordaan is an old part of town with renovated houses and many canals.
Either trams and/or buses.
Museum quarter as the name says close to Rijks- and Van Goghmuseum.
Crown Plaze is close to Centraal Station.

I suggest the Jordaan. It's a lovely neighborhood to stroll with plenty of cafes and restaurants. You can easily walk or take a tram to the museum quarter. It is more of a neighborhood feel. Enjoy, Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities!

Thanks for your replies. I appreicate your comments on the neighborhoods. I understand where each is on the map, but I don't know how close restaurants and cafes are. I am leaning toward Jordaan, but the other apartment is less expensive.

I love the Jordaan area - lots of canalside cafes and restuarants. I have not stayed in the other area but I do not think it is as charming as the Jordaan. It is just delightful to sit outside and watch the boats on the canals and all the Dutch people riding their bikes - you will love Amsterdam!

We will be staying at The Flying Pancake B&B just west of the zoo. It gets excellent reviews at tripadvisor. I'll add mine here as soon as possible.
