Amsterdam & Paris at night

We'll be in AMS for four nights in October, then five nights in Paris. In other cities we've done walking/pub tours . . . Would love to be able to book concert/event tickets in advance, or know more about walking tours, but I'm having no luck finding the best sources of information. Any suggestions?

Also welcome any ideas for chanson/jazz clubs in either city.

Merci!

Here is a web site that you can get all kinds of info for Amsterdam. It also has a link for Paris.

www.channels.nl

Enjoy your trip. Both cities are amazing.

For Paris, I always check on FNAC.com, spectacles, for a look at tickets for sale.

I am not a jazz fan, so can't recommend any venues, but I would check both the Amsterdam and Paris pages at

timeout.com

for what's on in your time frame.

For walks in Paris:

www.paris-walks.com

By the way, I am a Pittsburgher.

There is no paucity of jazz clubs in Paris; we met a musician in Paris one Fall who took us to the one at which he played, and I wish to God I could remember where it was located, but it was exactly what you are looking for; included both clubby music playing, all singing, and good jazz.

However, try this website:

Thanks y'all (that's South Pittsburgh!). Just the info I'm looking for - please keep it coming my way!

If your Amsterdam days include a Sunday I recommend that you take the train to Haarlem and visit the cafe "In Den Uiver." It is a small bar with live jazz, Sundays and maybe Thursdays. Free. Friendly local folks. The bar is in the shadow of the big church at the Grote Markt, about a 10 minute walk from the train station.

Did you see my reply to your earlier posting? I listed several jazz clubs there.

For events/concerts have a look at www.amsterdamhotspots.nl which has links to lots of venues, www.amsterdamtourist.nl/en/visiting also has plenty of info on what's going on. www.viator.com also has lots of tours, cruises, walking tours etc - click on Amsterdam and the dates you will be there.
www.ticketmaster.nl also has tickets on sale for many concerts.

Bear in mind that most big name concerts will be sold out by now.

Hello,

I have had a tour of Paris with Aeon Tours in June. It was called Paris Essentials Tour and it was très bon. Our tour leader was very knowledgeable about the history and especially the architecture of Paris.

For the best jazz in Paris, I have to suggest the Le Caveau des Oubliettes. It was fantastic! You must go downstairs and not remain in the upstairs bar, as that is where Parisians go for their jazz!

Sorry my English isn't perfect! I am German ;-P
