I'm Dutch so that determines my answer. Many, many good places near Ambassade to have breakfast. Near Estherea too. Ambassade is right inside the Nine Streets area so you'll be spoiled for choice. For instance: https://maps.app.goo.gl/sMTauhE9b85waVvcA on Wolvenstraat, around the corner.
Also, in Huidenstraat, you have that brown bar institution Café de Pels, where the Amsterdam literati go. |
Thanks Menachem. We typically don't opt in for breakfast, although I know many like to do so as it is part of the experience. I'm just not a breakfast person (although maybe I should be while on vacation!) :)

We also stayed at the Hotel Estheria (2017) and loved it. Great location - right on a canal and easy walking to many places. Their common areas are very nice. We were there during Kings Day - quite the scene! - and many guests were hanging out at the hotel bar/restaurant area. And the staff is very accommodating. Were I to return, I'd stay there again.

Thank you Joduhl! It looks amazing.
For some reason Hotel Ambassade continues to get written up over and over. Debating between the two. I really appreciate this group's comments. Thank you again! |

I only visited once and stayed at Amsterdam Marriott hotel. I loved the location because it is right outside the crazy tourist traffic and yet so many things are within walking distance.
I would look at that area. It is perfect for tourists IMO. It is close to the wonderful Vondelpark (picnic or a cafe), walking distance to the 2 biggest museums and even the Jordaan, thought that is a bit of a walk but I love to walk everywhere I can in Europe. It is also very convenient for public transit, to get to airport as well as the centre of the city. Park Centraal is another option. |
