Amsterdam 8 hours
 

I will be spending the day in Amsterdam. I would like to see the normal tourist sights but I would also like to see some not so tourist sights. Any ideas?

Short list:
- canal tour by boat. should take 2 hours or so. Shows you the whole town.
- Kalverstraat & PC hooftstraat (expensive) if you want shopping.
- Red light district, just because you have to. (Don't be embarassed, there are loads of tourists, even with kids).
- Van gogh museum & stedelijk museum if you like art
- Coffeeshops if you want to legally smoke pot or eat marihuana brownies.
(No I am not taking a stand in that, but it's legal)
- Anne frank house?
