AMS Airport
 

We have an 8 hour layover in AMS on our way home from Africa. Do not want to go into town(will have done this on the way over) Really want to get some sleep & a shower before the next 18 hours if travel to come. So I was wondering what suggestions folks have. ? the snooze chairs at the airport but these look like we would not feel "secure" enough to fall asleep with our bags there. ? a day room at the Mercure. ? a day room at another nearby hotel or any other suggestions?
I will cross post this on a couple of other forums.

Inside the airport there is Hotel Mercure, where you can hve a room, shower etc. Check:http://schiphol.nl/common/portlet/Ho...=1168276714883

Of course you can also spend time in the Casino, go to the small Rijksmuseum, shop till you drop etc.
Outside the airport there is a Sheraton, Hilton and other hotels, but I am not sure if they have dayrooms.

If worried about bags put them in the lockers in the basement left-luggage room - large lockers in abundance.

I haven't used the Mercure but i have used the Sheraton's health club and showers (for a fee); it is connected by interior walkway to the Schiphol Plaza area of the main terminal.

The luggage lockers in the airport come in various sizes and there is also a 'check room' for luggage.
