AMEX Venice gondola tour
 

I read here recently (I think posted by BobTheNavigator) about "AMEX Tour B" - costs 29Euro/ea. - includes nice walk thru neighborhoods, to Frairi church, ending in a 30min gondola ride. Does anyone (Bob?) have info on where in Venice (or online) I can inquire/arrange for this tour? Also, the approximate cost? -Lulu-

things may have changed, but my experience with the American Express office in Venice is that they don't have a website that describes their tours, and they don't take advance reservations. When I called them once they told me just to stop in when I got there.<BR>It is possible your hotel can reserve it for you, but it may not be necessary.

In and out of the AMEX office in Venice several times last year, and found them to be very friendly and accomodating. Everybody I dealt with spoke exceptional English, and heard other languages being spoken, i.e. German and Spanish.

I imagine that the AMEX tour would be a group event with the 30 minute gondola experience shared and on a set route. While the $70 would be a private ride for about 45-55 minutes, with you being able to request the type of route you would like, within reason.<BR><BR>By the way, the Grand Canal is not good for a gondola ride. You can do that on a vaporetto for a lot less money. And the Grand Canal can get a bit choppy, too. With a gondola, you can travel smaller canals and get to places you can't otherwise.

Hi, Lulu,<BR><BR>I treveled solo to Venice during my first trip there. Someone had recommended the Amex tour complete with gondola ride as the best value for taking a gondola ride. You will have others from the tour group in your gondola -- don't recall the number of people. And, it is on a predetermined route. But, the Amex tour was good quality and this was a very inexpensive way to get a gondola ride (which I might otherwise not have taken.<BR><BR>Happy travels.<BR><BR>John H
