AMEX Blue

Hi all,

Having heard that some of the Self Serve gas pumps in Europe won't accept CCs without a Smart Chip, I get myself an AMEX Blue Card.

No one at AMEX seems to know if the Smart Chip will work in Europe.

Anyone with experience with this card?

Sorry, Amex fees necessitate leaving home without it. USAA's V and MC function fine.

Hi Mike,

The Blue Card doesn't have a yearly fee.

>USAA's V and MC function fine.<

In unattended, self-serve gas pumps in France on Sunday?

Hi Ira,
I meant the currency conversion fees.
I always call USAA Fed Savings Bank (to notify them I'll be elsewhere)before travelling abroad and I have never had a problem. Perhaps others could comment on French experience this year - never know what European banks might decide to do to make life difficult/more expensive.

ira:

I don't think I've ever seen a ga pump in France that took any kind of AMEX card at all.
