I thought there was a version in the US of Queer as Folk made or being made? They will never put it on regular TV.

I miss This Life as it ended ages ago in UK/IRL on a high and never came back. The character Egg went on to do a show called Teachers which has a similar feel.

And they have a Lesbian equivalent called "The 'L' Word"....but no....don't expect to see it on regular tv....only the pay channels.

Adoptionisfab- When the American version of Coupling was made, I thought it was just awful, crass, not sexy or sly at all, definitely not funny. I was shocked to see the British episode later, one I'd missed, word-for-word the same and it was great. It was all in the delivery...

My favorite plot device in Coupling is the misheard words. This past week's episode with "self" and "elf" ended in an hilarious scene where Sally sings. Does anyone else miss Jeff? (and Captain Subtext)? Anyone know why Jeff left?

Why is Susan Hampshire such a draw? NOT a criticism, I am just not familiar with her work,and Monarch of the Glen starts a new season here next month, along with another show The Royal. I onlygot Ballykiss Angel for 1-2 seasons.

I agree 100%. In Episode one when Susan flashes it seems real in the US version it seemed contrived.

I think Richard Coyle (Jeff) left since he didn't want to be typecast or to explore other opportunities. I really don’t like Oliver that much, his character is too much like Jeffs but he doesn’t pull it off.

Susan Hampshire in her heyday (as lead in the Forsyte Saga, for instance) was a stunner to look at, particularly for those of us who are only a year or two younger. A significant part of many respectable citizens' adolescemt fantasies.

Her acting was never quite in the same league.

Monarch of the Glen is one of my all time faves -- and yes, Susan Hampshire was an 'IT' girl way back when, and was quite decorative (I cried, too, when Gollee handed his wildflowers to Lexie so Molly wouldn't see them...sob!!!)

I grew up watching Monty Python's Flying Circus, Are You Being Served, and Fawlty Towers... but then again, I'm an incurable anglophile!

I love Lawrence too....but did you see the episode of Changing Rooms where he had to decorate Linda's home and vice versa? I was really surprised to see how awful his house looked....I guess it's like a woman whose husband is a plumber and all of the pipes are busted. He's such a great designer, I guess I was just shocked that his house not only lacked pizzazz, it wasn't that tidy either. JMO.

Doesn't Lawrence L. Bowen look like Dorian Gray? Kind of freaky if you ask me mate.

I tune in about once a week because Monty Python is still one of the funniest shows ever.

We do watch several shows on BBC America. But we really enjoy Prime Minister's Questions on CSpan. I would love to see George Bush in that situation--it would be so entertaining.

I watch it off and on. I also watch BBC news on our PBS station. I like to get a different "slant" on things, so like to check in with the BBC. I love Keeping Up Appearances..Patricia Rutlidge is a jewel.

Good Gucci, I can't stand "Footballer's Wives." This is the epitome of Chav TV. Yuck.

I also can't stand the show with Julia Sawalha (Saffy from ABFAB) and that detective with the Afro hairstyle.

"The Kumar's" is absolutely horrid, as is "Coupling."

Chav is not used in the US. Chav refers to a subculture stereotype of a person who is uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behaviour. The label is typically, though not exclusively, applied to teenagers and young adults of white working-class or lower-middle class origin.

The thing about <i>Footballers' Wives</i> that scares me is that I think it's probably pretty accurate.

I like Changing Rooms, Coupling (although not as much without Jeff), and Monarch (although not as much without cutiepie Archie). I also like What Not to Wear. Father Ted cracks me up.

Oh yes, and when they ran Ballykissangel I watched that and loved it.

Then you are completely naive. When 90% odf the journalists in America admit to voting democratic, how can the news not be biased. Try reading Bernard Golderg's books. You might learn something.

I can prove that the media is far left biased right here and now with 2 simple questions:

1. When was the last time you heard a US politician or political body described as right wing? Probably very often. OK, when was the last time you heard a US politician or political body described as left wing? Answer: probably never. The media is so left biased that they do not seen leftward positions as being extreme.

2. When the Chinese killed students at Tinneman square, how was the were the Chinese leaders described? As left wing or as right wing? Answer: the media deascribed them as right wing even though they were left wing. Likewise, the Oklahoma city bopmbers were called right wing even though they are not. The news media simply calls everyone they don't like right wing, and then lumps conservatibes in using the same term in order to cast them as villians.

There is simply getting around the obvious media bias. It is apparent in their use of words, in the stories they chose to cover, etc. It is so blatant that only far leftwingers fail to see it. As Goldberg points out, they believe that their leftwing position is so obviously correct that anyone who doesn't agree must be an extremist. Read his book. It will open your eyes if they aren't open already.

But I think Footballer's Wives is such unabashed shlock. It doesn't even attempt to be serious or important or even plausible. That's why I love it.

I loved the episode where Frank was on trial and they rehashed their plotlines while the jury listened and laughed. It was as if the show was making fun of itself because its plotlines would never &quot;stand up in court.&quot;

I also love those What Not Wear gals. They're way better than the people in the US version.
