This from today's Washington Post:"The European Union on Monday announced a road map to allowing vaccinated people from outside the bloc to travel to Europe, foretelling a more normal and connected continent after more than a year in which its boulevards and beauty have been off-limits to most other people around the world.

The proposal, which could be in place by the end of June, will give hope to travelers from the United States and elsewhere who are eager to resume moving around the world as the coronavirus pandemic starts to fade in countries with aggressive vaccination programs.
The E.U. has been working for months to set up an internal system to ease travel restrictions within the 27-nation club and others that take part in its border-free travel zone. Monday’s announcement was intended to show how that system could be extended to other countries.

Europe would grant fully vaccinated people and their young children the chance to visit no matter the current coronavirus conditions in their countries. Non-vaccinated citizens of non-European countries would be allowed to visit as the health situation improves in their countries."

On Dr. Osterholm's (https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/) most recent podcast, he stated that to him, the herd immunity percentage looked more like that for measles than for flu. The measles level is about 95%. Based on that figure. he says there's a fat chance (expression mine) that the US could reach that level. This probably would apply to other countries too, would it not?

Our governor DeSantis just outlawed all vaccine passports. I have no idea how this would affect proof of vaccination for European travel.

The Republican legislature has just made it harder for oldsters, who are mostly Republicans, to vote absentee and perhaps to travel. We'll see.
As someone who lives in Minneapolis and is familiar with Osterholm’s (who lives here also) modus operandi, you do realize that he has a vested interest to offer negative scenarios in order to keep himself “relevant”.

There’s this thing called a CDC card that those of us who’ve been vaccinated receive as evidence. Greece is already accepting them.

You're no doubt much better informed than I. In the articles I've read about travel to the EU the CDC card has not been mentioned. Rather, I've read that the EU is working on its own vaccination passport. There is a forgery problem with the CDC card. One article about that is linked here. https://www.washingtonpost.com/healt...ination-cards/ Maybe that's why, so far, the CDC card has not been mentioned in articles I've read about travel to Europe. We'll see what happens.

Envierges, I have the CDC card but my family in NY are getting the digital one also. I have been told I need proof of vaccine for Paris hotel and hoping it will be good enough but we are hearing that a digital one would be more secure. A nurse friend giving the vaccine here in central Fl said they would like something more secure. I think something will have to be more uniform for travel via the sea and the world. That is why we have passports for travel and vaccine records for travel in certain countries.

Ignore is a nice feature.

Thanks for that reminder. I’m doing that right now.
