No one flies non-stop from DFW or IAH to LHR right now. BA does fly IAH-DTW-LHR.

Everything changes on March 29. Both AA and BA will have one DFW-LHR, while AA will retain one DFW-LGW.

From IAH, BA will switch both non-stops to LHR. The DTW one-stop will be dropped.

So, from Texas, there's no situation where you will find a AA non-stop to LHR with a BA non-stop to LGW. Not before 3/29, not after.

Back to the booze. We flew AA from Miami to Buenos Aires in 2005 and were served complimentary alcohol. Perhaps that's changed since. I can't see why they'd serve liquor to SA and not to Europe. Anyone know?

We had the two seats, 4-5 middle and two on the other side configuration and found our two seats considerably more comfortable than the usual crammed in feeling of coach seats.

Have been to both Heathrow and Gatwick in the past, but don't feel qualified to comment since it's been about five years since we visited London.

And just to add to rkkwan's comments, and maybe your dilemma, after 3/29 CO will have 2 nonstops from IAH - LHR, and retain 1 nonstop IAH -LGW.

Ooopps. Sorry - just reread your post and forgot you're collecting AA miles. Never mind.

Actually, dfr4848 raised a good point. Since the OP is considering BA that doesn't give out AAdvantage points for US-London, CO should be considered too. IAH is closer to Austin than DFW.

rkkwan - I said "direct." AA 86/87 have same-plane service DFW-ORD-LHR and v.v.

Gardyloo - You're correct.

You're all correct -- the weekend DFW-LHR is not direct, but the weekday DFW-LGW is direct and if plans work with my dad then this is what we'll be going with. We have family in Dallas and I prefer AA over CO so Houston/CO is out.
