American breakfast in London
Where can you get American breakfast--Pancakes,Waffles-in London?<BR>My children can not do without their waffles and pancakes,ok I can keep them going without these items for 2-3 days but it will be a serious promlem later on.Advice please.
Perhaps you should rent a room with a kitchen where you could prepare the things you want to eat. For example, the Citadines hotels have kitchen facilities in them.
Maybe you would better stay home.
Why don't you stop being assholes and give advice if you have any?if you do not have any advice to give, just keep quite.<BR>Hunk,I assume the American hotels in London such as Marriot or Hilton should have what you are looking for in their breakfast menus.I do not think that the Brits eat pancakes or waffles for breakfast but there must be some places where they make them since London hosts alot of American tourists.

maybe if you didn't indulge your kids so much they would learn to appreciate other types of food. But if you must cater to them you would be better off renting an apartment than staying in a hotel. That way you can give them their pancakes, peanut butter, whatever whenever.
When we stayed at the Holiday Inn hotels in London and Paris they served a full american style breakfast. When you call to make your reservation the person will tell you if you ask the question. I don't feel that your children are being indulged, I completely understand since I do travel to London with my children several times per year. You can also try McDonalds, you would be amazed at how many eateries in London serve American food items. Supermarkets you should try would be Marks and Spencer also the food halls at Harrods and Selfridges. <BR><BR>Good Luck I wish more people would travel with their children.
I believe the McDonalds in the UK serve pancakes and sausage for breakfast, along with bacon rolls and other faves.<BR><BR>I fully understand how kids need something "normal" as part of foreign travel. It's just a meal, not a life choice, guys.
Pathetic drivel - stay at home if you are so worried. You'll be able to get what you want at any low life crap cafe with all the truck drivers and other miserable American tourists.
Message to SillyTwit:<BR>What's really pathetic and miserable is you, and the way you show your jealousy of Americans.
xxx above me! Where was that jealosy. I did not see it.
What a bunch of nuts.<BR>Hunk, just ask the hotel concierge, they should know. Like above, Micky D's has them too.
First I think anyone that can't answer a question correctly should be banned from this web-site. That said - my question what is an "full English breakfast?". That is what my hotel is serving.
Full English breakfast is eggs (sometimes pancakes) sausage, bacon, ham, toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal and tea or juice. Very good.

I just love listening to these savage colonial americans who would consider any individual who seems anti-american as jealous. Proposterous! If there is anything that I know about americans is that since they are hated around the world entire and since no one gives them any credence (much as a result of the election of bush), they have developed a defence mechanism in order to address their issue because they seem to need to feel like they are superior.
I don't know how my questions appeared twice (?). Anyway, the breakfast sounds delicious. That will save me from buying lunch! LOL.
Message to Lord Covington: I happen to be English, so much for your savage american colonials.
betty-<BR>that is exactly the way I felt every day at breakfast! Our hotel made the best fresh breads, androlls, and fresh fruit salads.Who could eat lunch after all that?? But tea in the late afternoon is good to revive you for the rest of the day.<BR>Hunk, you might want to check and see what your hotel provides, ours had pancakes and they were very solicitous of young children.<BR>Also, there is an excellent restaurant that I cannot remember the name of:) something like Richelieu? Richeau? that serves great eggs and scones, we always go there the morning we arrive.<BR>Have a great time~
my suggestion would be to try and visit some parenting web sites rather than Fodors and learn how to not be a slave to your kids' demands. Also, waffles is a disgusting start to the day and will give your kids a predisposition to obesity, bad skin, lethargy, heart problems etc in later life, so best posting this question on a health website to see how to teach your kids that a healthy breakfast is the best way.
RICHEAUX is the restaurant that has great breakfasts! Pretty much anything that you want and it is a lovely and comfortable place too.<BR>Have a good time, and you must know by now that you just have to just sift through the ugliness here and get the info that you need:)
Hey Hunk,<BR><BR>Richoux is just another (very nice) cafe IMO. <BR><BR>The Maple Leaf is a pub that does meals - they're in Covent Garden, and their buttermilk pancakes, real syrup and Canadian bacon is the business for brunchtimes. Kids are cool there - and they have hockey on the big screens, too.<BR><BR>Otherwise, MickyD's it is!!!<BR><BR>HTH<BR>t

I doubt there's anywhere in London where your kids can enjoy a typical American waffle/pancake breakfast. I've combed my guidebooks and found nothing. So I suggest you stay home or rent anapartment where you can recreate these delicacies and make sure that your kids are treated well and not subjected to the horrible changes that living in another culture require. I hope that none of them is going to spend any time in another culture when she/he grows up because the shock would be far too great.
sorry SorryAss but I have had pancakes in hotel restaurants and in cafes in London.<BR>Maybe you should drag your SorryAss out of the house sometimes and clean up a little, and see what the rest of the world eats for breakfast.<BR>What do you eat? cold pizza and flat beer?

Gee, Sorry, too bad you didn't take the time to read this before making your nasty and rude comments. Otherwise you would have learned that it is not a problem at all. American breakfasts are available at a lot of places in London. But then if you would have read those responses first it would have ruined your chance to be a complete asshole, wouldn't it?
I can not believe you people. One traveller asked for suggestions for breakfast and look at these responses?what is wrong with asking a simple question about a pancake/waffle breakfast?grow up all will you?<BR>What is it to you what his children wants for breakfast?if you have any info.write,if you can not help him don't write anything. No need to be obnoxious....Are you here to preach people about what to eat?
Another american who is a slave to their childs whims and demands, and feels the need to feed their child mass quantitys of sugar. Who is the grown up and who is the child? europeans do not eat this crap nor would they feed it to their kids. That is why the states has the highest rate of children with ADD who are on ritalin because they eat to much sugar and other processed foods. Stay home and go to waffle house and tell your kids this is their vacation.
Sugarfree, have you ever heard of Belgian waffels? Dutch pannekoeken? French crepes? Austrian palatschinken? I bet Hunk's kids are going to try a lot of new foods in London - right, Hunk? - so let's cut them just a wee bit of slack here.
To Sugarfree and other ignorant Americans:<BR>It comes as a surprise to me to see that most Americans think pancakes and waffles are American!!<BR>We have been eating them here since god knows when, only we do have them as breakfast but eat them as lunch/desert/snack (probably a tradition)and we do not use mapple syrup(no mapple in europe)but use various jams,sauces,etc..which are equally sweety(loaded with sugar)so relax..there is nothing original here..
Yeah. How about chocolate croissants and other rich and buttery pastries? The typical English breakfast is a huge conglomerate of grease, fat and cholesterol(?sp). Americans may not eat the healthiest breakfast, but neither do most Europeans.<BR>Murray
Yes, the full English/Irish/Scottish breakfast will have eggs cooked any way you prefer, "real" meaty bacon, sausage, possibly black or white pudding, grilled tomato, fried bread etc. You don't have to order all of it but if you eat most of it you won't need lunch.<BR>An American friend of mine ordered a fried egg white only in Ireland. The amazed landlady asked why. When she was told that it was because of cholesterol she said firmly, "We don't have any of that in Ireland."<BR>Seriously, for most British people the full monty is strictly for holidays or perhaps for Sundays. Most of us have yoghurt, fruit or cereal before we dash off to work.
I am amazed at the bad manners, nastiness and generally, rude and stupid people answering this post!!!!!<BR><BR>A Travel site is the forum for people who are traveling to ask questions.<BR>NOT for bored idiots to sit and wait so they can answer and pretend to be so F*ing superior!<BR>As if none of you have ever come to the US and asked a Stupid Question!!<BR>
