American Air Vacation Package

I am travelling to Paris with a girlfriend and am considering an American Air Package with a stay at Hotel du Louvre. Any comments?

Barb,

I just returned from Paris w/2 friends on an AA vacation package - air and hotel. We had no problems (except with a side tour we booked in the U.S.) Our hotel (not the Hotel Du Louvre) was nice and really close to everything. Have a great time!

I loved our package 1 1/2 yr. ago at the Hotel Lucia through American. Everything was flawless except the check in. The 1st room was unacceptable, other than that, I would sign up with them again!

Barb,
My husband and I have taken several AA vacation packages to Europe and have always had a good experience. We stayed at Hotel du Louvre in 1998 and really enjoyed it. This year we stayed in the St. Germaine area and thought this was more convenient for what we wanted to see and do this trip. I'm sure all the hotels AA uses are very nice.
Enjoy your trip
Mary

Hi Barb:We did the AA package a few years ago and stayed at the Hotel du Lourve. It was a great trip. We thought it was a very good deal. The only problem was checking in. You might want to advise your travel agent of your AM arrival so you can check in before noon. The Hotel du Lourve has one of the all time great (classy) bars. Don't miss it. Enjoy your stay in Paris...Paul J

We did an American Airlines air/hotel package two years ago. When we got to the Hotel Lutetia, they claimed they never heard of us---but since we had all our vouchers and were with American Airlines, rooms were found, though it took over an hour. So I would consider calling ahead. I suspect that they claimed to not have heard of us because we had requested connecting rooms---and we ended up with adjoining rooms---but who would complain about that when you start out with no rooms? Also, our transportation to the airport when leaving was nearly an hour late---we still got to the airport on time, but there were some anxious moments. Before going to Paris on this trip, I read a book "French or Foe" by Polly Platt---it had some very interesting insights into the French. One in particular was that they will claim something is "Impossible!" then when they come up with a reasonable alternative, you are so grateful! When we were there during high tourist season, "Impossible!" seemed to be something we heard quite a bit, though it rarely was.
