america's cup regattas starting this week!!!

if you like sailing.. do not miss some of the regattas for the america's cup between now and the finals in 2007.

it is a very exciting time to be here.
you will be able to see them from a touring catamaran, for 25 euros/day, or depepnding on where they are sailing, from many kms. of beach coast, and a few restaurants.

Just saw your post-- I hope you are a regular who will notice my response!

We hope to come to Spain in 2007 for the race. Do you anticipate everything booking far in advance? Any advice on where to get information besides Valencia's tourism site?

Hi! I do believe the hotels closest to the area will be fully booked early on,as they were at the last regattas.
but there will be transport to the port from all over, even our local buses already have many traditional routes that will be improved upon.

I don't know any other source of information about valencia except the tourist office. I am sure there are webpages about the regattas, which would be helpful but I am not familiar with their addresses.
If I come across any I will post them here.

I had the pleasure of attending the inauguration festivities of the south African team's racing yacht.. and it was a fabulous party besides being a very sleek impressive vessel.

if i can help in any way, let me know.

Thank you-- I guess I need to get on this soon. I'm sure it will be an amazing experience

Are they being televised anywhere here in the states?

rsb99 Jun 5th, 2005 08:58 AM

I have a partial answer. The current races are preliminaries, building up to the Cup in 2007. Once they reach the semi-finals, known as the Louis Vuitton Cup, they will likely be televised in the US, although it may be on cable (last time it was OLN, Outdoor Living Network). Then the America's Cup will almost certainly be televised. The coverage in the past was really good, by the way.

As for the current set of races, I am not aware of them being braodcast. Anyone know otherwise?

rsb: My husband was glued to the coverage of Louis Vuitton and the Cup finals. I checked OLN and ESPN but can't find anythng to indicate they might be televising the regattas.
