Amenities at CDG
 

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a shower and freshen up at CDG airport.

I've not seen anything like that at CDG. It is not ,IMO, a user friendly place. Difficult to even get a decent cup of coffee there.

Coffee is fine there, but I am always in such a hurry to leave that I will only drink it if I am with an annoying travelling companion who insists on it.

Yes, it is possible, I have done it. You arrange it through your airline, which may reserve it for business or first class passengers or elite members of their frequent flier programs.
The one we used was operated, I believe, by American Airlines (though we were flying Continental), and Air France also operates an arrival lounge with shower facilities.
Your best bet is to check with your airline.

I'm looking at a seven hour layover at CDG next month. And I think it will be hard to find even a store that sells anything I want. My experience in the new terminal 2E is that on the air side of security, the only stores are upscale designer clothes and perfumes and stuff. Nobody ever seems to be in there. You have to hunt really hard for stores that sell stuff you might actually want, such as drinks and magazines. Those stores are all on the wrong side of security.

It does not seem to have been designed with the passenger's convenience in mind.

Why it's not 'cheap', the Shearton does rent "day rooms" for around 100 Euros.

There are some nice looking shops and cafes that are accessable before you clear security. After security there are some really overpriced duty free and luxery shops and some of those Relay places selling snacks and magazines. The food choices are terrible. since it is new, perhaps it will improve with age. Since we are almost always on AF I have not had much experience with the other terminals.
