Amboise to Limoges best leisurely drive and overnight stop

We will be driving from Amboise to Sarlat. We would like to make this a leisurely drive and overnight along the way. Rick Steves suggests Mortemart. What about Limoges area? Any suggestions for a Chambres d' hotes along the way? Thank you for you advice and expertise on France. I'm learning and apologize ahead of time for misspellings or not quite understanding the area!

Limoges itself might be OK. It has an important museum of porcelain, an expanding pedestrian old town, a museum of Limoges enamels in the bishop's former palace. Oradour-sur-Glane is nearby.

I generally use http://en.gites-de-france.com/ in France, although I've also used this site: http://www.france-voyage.com/

We stayed at Hotel Rue de la Pais in Limoge..Clean, reasonable, well located. Porcelain topic is interesting and there are several shops that are reasonable for small items. Parking out front of the hotel and a bank on the corner of the little square so the convenience level is there too.

If you are planning to visit Oradour-sur-Glane, just souteast of Limoges, which you should at all costs, why not stay there and not deal with traffic getting in and out of Limoges itself?

to visit Oradour-sur-Glane, just souteast of Limoges,

I love the idea of staying here, Oradour-sur-Glane, as we had planned to visit too! I will start looking for lodging. Does anyone have recommendations for here or in the area?
Thank you!

There is a small hotel right in the main square (of the new town), the Place Géneral de Gaulle, called Hôtel de la Glane. I think it may be the only hotel in town, though there are probably chambres d'hôtes. I think it's part of the Logis de France group. I stayed there once, and it was quite nice, but it was 10 years or so ago, so do your due diligence on it.
