I will be driving from Mont Saint Michel to the Geneva Airport and was going to take a few days to get there. Does anyone have any suggestions for a 2-3 star hotel in Amboise very close to or in the city center? I will be there the first of August 2017. Thank you

I stayed there, too and also liked it.

We stayed in the Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes and enjoyed it. Close enough to the "downtown" if you call it that, to walk.

I also stayed at Le Manoir les Minimes for 3 nights and really liked it. Lovely rooms, convenient parking and walkability to town and restaurants. Some of the rooms have views of the Chateau lit up at night. I would highly recommend this place.
