Amazon.com is offering a nifty computer you can carry on your belt (if you're a geek) or in a purse or day pack. With T-MobileWeb service for $5.99 a month, you get unlimited access to a lot of the internet plus webmail at places like m.gmail.com
After rebates, you'll have $50 to spend (but T-Mo will take $35 of it for activation).

Fun story - I bought my GSM 'world' phone on Amazon with a T-Mobile plan. The phone was on sale for $0.99, but there was also a $20 rebate. When I received the rebate check, it had been written for $200. I contacted Amazon to report this, and they told me it would cost more to cancel and replace that check, so... "early Merry Christmas"...

Correct on the monthly cost. To get the rebate, you have to sign a one or two year contract (I didn't see which in the fine print) for a voice plan costing at least $30 a month. Then the T-MobileWeb is $5.99 on top of that.

Over here, T-Mobile started selling the IPhone yesterday. It's 399€ PLUS a 2 year contract that will cost you 49€ per month. 100 minutes included, extra minutes are 39ct. One time payment of 25€. It sums up to:
1600€
This is for a lousy phone that can't even do UMTS. Who do they think they're fooling?
