Finally saw the tape. I laughed out loud more times tonight then all of last season combined.

Didn't really dislike any of the teams, though the POW and the Queen were solidly my least favorite.

I have only seen a season and a half of this show - in the earlier races was there ever a same sex team that was a real contender? As in the last two races and so far in this one, the teams that were brothers, friends, same sex partners seem like the weakest teams.

Forgot to comment on the guy that helped the Survivor team, There were people that helped teams last last season as well. I remember the blondes asking a young man if he would have been helping them if they were middle aged men.

It is a wonder that no one from the Fodors community has stumbled across a race in progress. We wouldn't know anything about the teams, but it would certainly be tempting to help who ever I ran across.

I just watched it tonight on Tivo, so I was avoiding these threads until I'd seen it. So far, I like it better than last season.

No one that I'm rooting for, but no one that bothers me either. Well, maybe except Rob's smirking. Just something about smirkers...

Favorite line: "So this is what the young people call a wedgie"

Biggest surprise: The guys from SC - "Well, we don't speak Spanish, but I think my Portuguese should help" or something close to that. I never saw that coming.

Odd moment: When the SC guys were eliminated and the show subtitled the one guy. Uh, it WAS still English. Sort of. Portuguese, huh?

Just watched my DirecTV version last night.

I love Rob and Amber - maybe it's 'cause he's from 'home' and I love to hear him speak. Yeah, he's sneaky - but it's a game.

I like the 2 guys from SC - I wish they'd been able to stick it out for a few weeks at least. "Drive it like you stole it" - classic. I can only imagine what it was like for a native to hear them speaking Spanish/Portugese with that heavy southern accent!!

Not liking the older couple at all. She rubs me the wrong way. I usually root for the older ones as the under dogs, but not this time.

The gay guys aren't as bad as I thought they'd be. Not Cha cha cha by any means, but okay.

Dont like the mother/son team. They strike me as very petty.

I do think that Roy and what's her name are going to be the Jonathon and Victoria. If he said Suck It Up one more time, I was going to lose it!

Peru looked beautiful. So colorful - and the scenic. My husband said I couldn't have a llama.

I hope they spend some time in some places I've been to. I love being able to say "I was there!"

Glad the "Bubbas" are gone. Such self-stereotpying personalities are cute in a surreality show, maybe (I don't think so), but not as a daily diet. So to speak.

When are we going to have an "Amazing Race, the Taxi-only Version" that would be nothing but going place to place, taxi-by-taxi? Seems to me, almost every race finally comes down to smart vs. dumb taxi drivers and/or smart vs. dumb treatment of taxi drivers.

Always hoped that they would go to Peru and now they have. Wonderful country.

Had my anorak stolen from around my waist in Pisac market and didn't realise it until much later. Unfortunately I lost 2 rolls of film with it.

I hope they go to Macchu Picchu - one of my most favourite places I've ever been to - but think that they probably won't. Too sacred a place for a bunch of couldn't-care-less racers, though this bunch seems pretty sensitive to their surroundings so far, I'll give them that. It was nice to see so much voluntary interaction with their hosts.

Cool prize for coming in first too, 10 grand each.

Several good lines in the first episode already: In addition to the already noted "Drive it like you stole it" and "This must be what young people call a wedgie", we have the son telling the llama something along the lines of "I don't mind if you blow snot all over my face if you'll just get in your pen so that we can beat Rob and Amber".

Llamas are actually very intelligent and are sometimes used as protective "watchdogs" for other herds. A dozen of them live on my road and are on the must-see tour for any visiting kids.

We've thought of lots of variations on Amazing Race. We'd like to see an all-celebrity race. We'd like to see a combination AR/CSI (this came up when we hoped Victoria might bludgeon Jonathan to death with her heavy pack). And of course, best of all, a FODORITE Amazing Race!

My favorite quote of the night came from Phil. As he informed Meredith and Gretchen that they placed sixth, he asked them "Does that feel nice?" In my head I totally heard him adding, "Who's your daddy?" :)

Keith : Last year in April, I was at a business conference at the Banff Springs hotel less than a week after the race passed through. One of the tasks they had to perform there was to build a Tee Pee in the parking lot of the hotel in the final leg of the Race. That task never made it to the screen due to time editing, but the hotel was abuzz with rumours at the time. Thats the closest that I've come to it.

As a result of that incident, I kept a watchful eye for red and gold flags during my travels to Croatia, London, Wales and Budapest last September but didn't see anything. However, I remember standing at the Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest and briefly thinking that it would be great for the Race to go to Budapest, being the interesting city that it is. So imagine my surprise and delight when last season aired and there they were, albeit several months before I got there.

A friend of a friend flew on the same plane as the final 4 teams on AR 3 or 4. I didn't believe the story until the descriptions of Flo and Zack and Ian and Terri from her story matched exactly when the episode aired. She told us that they had tiny AR decals on their backpacks and that 2 teams sat in one section while the other two sat in another. They were very cordial and seemed to get along quite well with each other. Their story was that they were travel reporters / journalists working on a story. So if you meet any journalists....

Marilyn, I would like to see an AR with contestants from several countries. Perhaps all English speaking countries so the language handicap is potentially equal.

I started out wanting Rob and Amber not to win - now Im not so sure - they are a competitive bunch and very savvy for this game.

These first two episodes are cut into such brief flashes that I don't feel I know the teams yet. Think that so far I am most fond of Uchenna & Joyce.

Ah, there's the old Rob from Survivor. It's not enough to try to get an advantage, he's got to bribe the security guard and the bus driver to screw the other teams.

This is definitely better than last season and I like Rob and Amber. I am not quite rooting for them to win yet but I think they play the game smart if not fair. They seem to be having fun and not just racing from point to point. In epi 1 when he couldn't figure out the trunk, most teams would have either been screaming at eachother or crying but they took it in stride and laughed - points for them. Also, they are not mean to eachother or the people they encounter. It was really sweet how the 2 bros cried at the end when the girls were getting eliminated - it would have been the first TAR romance. Until next week. JenV
