I loved seeing Rob and Amber again. Part of his charm is his cockiness. I hope they go far in the game. I couldn't stand the two girlfriends that came in 1st.

The mother/son team are kind of scary. The son is definitely underestimating Rob. He didn't get as far as he did in Survivor and All Star Survivor by being "Dumb as a rock" like he said.

The hillbillies were so entertaining and added a breath of fresh air to the show.

I would like to see the "Barbie Twins" go. Don't care for all that fluff.

I love the older couple and admire them for going through the grueling pace of Amazing Race.

It is a better group of people

Hey did you see the South Carolina guys when they got eliminated! they were crying, saying that they will be best friends forever, and that they could never imagine their lives without each other. I thought to myself: are you sure you're only "best friends!"

Zeus Mar 2nd, 2005 10:51 AM

Take a look at CBS.com and read the bios. Those two girls that everyone on here seems to hate, are pretty amazing themselves. The one graduated from William and Mary Summa Cum Laude in less than two years while the other is the type of artsy-fartsy type many Fodorites usually fawn over.

I'll be routing for the two babes with the big hooters....

This group is so much better than the last Amz 6 group that I might watch it now. Seeing the countries is amazing! Didn't Peru look magnificent- and wasn't the markets etc. so COLORFUL!

And to the person who thinks the eliminated may be more than friends. Some towns and small towns in the South especially, bonds between friends are often tight. Emotions show and are shown. I thought them good losers and also authentic to themselves. Sorry to see them leave, because I thought they would have been fun and interesting.

As any Survivor fan knows, Rob is anything but dumb. Dumb like a fox, maybe.

As soon as they headed for Cuzco I knew we were going to hear some huffing and puffing. That altitude is a killer -- you just can't catch your breath and you feel like your limbs weigh a hundred pounds each. 2/3rds of a mile with 35 lbs is TOUGH under those conditions.

Travelnut, I agree, I liked seeing more of one country. Too bad they didn't get to Macchu Pichu, but I bet they couldn't get permission to film there after a commercial shoot a few years ago had an accident that damaged one of the most important landmarks.

HKP, LOL!

Am I the only one that found the quote "We're the all American couple" highly amusing??? Do they really think that a POW and a beauty queen are a typical American couple, or did they mean the most *stereotypical*.
Anyway... I'm Canadian so I don't care. But the girl mentioned this like twice in half-an-hour so it was annoying.

I'm with Grasshopper. I'm glad the two blodes won using their language skills to their advantage. I don't see what people have against the mom/son. I liked them. I didn't expect much from them and they did well.

What was the deal with the guy helping Rob and Amber? Where did he come from? It was because of him that they didn/t deserve to win last night.

mr_go Mar 2nd, 2005 11:44 AM

I like this crop of contestants much better than last season's. I'm ready to have fun with this group.

Key tip from the first episode: It pays to know a second language.

Another key tip from the first episode: if you ever have to move uncooperative domesticated animals, swat them on the behind. Something to bear in mind.

Ryan Mar 2nd, 2005 11:47 AM

Didn't watch the episode but did look at the CBS website as I intend to catch up with the next few shows.

The description of Heidi/Megan peaked my curiousity. Heidi's a stay at home Mom. Megan is her roommate. Are they using the word "roommate" to avoid the backlash of featuring two women who might have a child together?

Grasshopper Mar 2nd, 2005 11:52 AM

Ha ha, Mr go.... duly noted!

Keith Mar 2nd, 2005 11:59 AM

29 posts! I hope that means it was a good start, not a terrible one. I taped the show last night, but will not get to see it until tonight or tommorrow - so I'm not reading these posts yet.

Fortunately no one at work watches the show, so I haven't heard any spoilers yet.

Will put my "two cents worth" in although most everything has already been said about TAR 7's premier episode ... enjoyed the "Bubbas" (my daughter's moniker) and was sorry to see them go so soon ... enjoyed seeing Rob and Amber out-manuevered by two teams ... including mother and son. My favorite aspect of this season ... NO "DATING MODELS"!!!!! It is about time we have what appears to be a full contingent of "real people" (R & A the exception, however Rob might certainly be considered "common"!

crefloors Mar 2nd, 2005 12:57 PM

I may have missed something but as far as I could tell, the guy who was helpig Rob and Amber saw them at the airport , recognized them from Survivor, and offered to help. Obviously he knew his way around the area pretty well. I'm thinking that he wanted to be on TV and so he was.

yoonny Mar 2nd, 2005 01:25 PM

Having Rob & Amber sure makes it more interesting. They probably got paid well to be in the show.

Those Llamas are pretty funny, splashing all that wet stuff......

It's really nice to see some contestants actually appreciate the surroundings and be nice to people. Good start...

Barbara Mar 2nd, 2005 01:27 PM

I don't think anybody out-manuevered Rob and Amber. They just had the bad luck to get stuck behind a stalled vehicle, otherwise they would have been in first place.

Like ucsun, I'm (almost) rooting for Rob and Amber because I really disliked some of the comments from other contestants, particularly the girls who came in first and the son. I couldn't stand R & A on Survivor, but Rob can smell someone out to get him a mile away.

bellairegirl Mar 2nd, 2005 02:25 PM

ekonz -- I share your sentiments exactly! No dating models or engaged actors this time. I've watched AR since the very first show, and I got so turned off last season that I almost stopped watching. All the "baby" this and "baby" that got so annoying too! Not to mention the shrieking! This one looks much better already.

llamalady Mar 2nd, 2005 02:33 PM

Hey Zeus:

"I'll be routing for the babes........"

Don't you mean 'rutting'?

O ye god and mighty fishes.....

Marilyn Mar 2nd, 2005 02:37 PM

No dating models! -- I KNEW something was missing.

I think I posted this info on the "other" thread. The first "baby" occurred 10 minutes into the season premiere. It's gonna be a long race, baby.

Mary2Go Mar 2nd, 2005 02:40 PM

I was pulling for the Hillbillys too. I liked it when they got out of the bike rickshaw and pushed it! Do the brothers look familiar to anyone? I keep thinking I have seen one of them on another show but I didn't hear any mention of it.

mamarosa Mar 2nd, 2005 02:42 PM

The brothers don't look familiar to me, but the mother...when she smiles reminds me of someone I've seen on tv recently. Can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps it was a cartoon charecter?? Not sure, but it certainly is bugging me!
