Amazing Race 4/12

Have to say, I was worried my beloved "Hippies" would be gone tonight. Lake is such a jerk, he reminds me of Jonathon from a previous AR. No great loss with them gone now. Hope to hear some other comments about the episode.

I'm glad the "Hippies" pulled it out in the end (even with a penalty!) But the preview for next weeks show doesn't look good for them...we'll just have to wait and see...

Cmeyer...basically the "Hippies" were driving in the wrong direction in Greece and went 2 hours out of their way, which put them way behind, however they did make it to the pitstop before Lake and Michelle (I'm glad to see them go too...he was getting on my last nerve!)

ROCK ON HIPPIES!

Close call!!! I think this should have been a wake up call for the Hippies. It would have been terrible if they were eliminated. It's easy to be fun & carefree when things are going well but when things get tough, true character shows.

I was glad to see after only a natural reaction, they were back into enjoying the experience again. What a model of teamwork for one not to blame the other (like we have seen so often with the other teams). That Keroppi hat was hilarious!!!

It was pretty shocking for me that 3 teams got off at the wrong train stn...you'd think one of them would have double-checked since they had time. That 15 penalty was a nailbiter.

I thought the wrester was a lot tougher on Ray & Yolanda & the Hippies than MoJo.

We finally got to see Michelle can give as good as she can take. But, I'm glad to see them gone. I wonder if Lake will "get it" when he watches the show.

I think TAR's doing a better job with the editing.

cmeyer54: CBS's website does a good recap on the whole show.

Enjoy-la!

The 15 minute penalty was only a nail biter for the teams. The team behind the hippies would have had the 15 minute penalty as well.

Greece looked beautiful.

The frat boys must have a huge lead at this point. I'm not sure that leads mean that much - it seems as if they always show up somewhere that doesn't open for hours, and they all wind up at the same place at the same time.
Couldn't believe that Ray, as big as he is, had such a hard time throwing the javelin.
Good episode. Glad to see Lake gone.

Yippee, Lake is gone. He comes across as the most incredibly obnoxious person, I can't believe Michelle didn't haul off and punch him, tho I think she came close. I'm worried about the hippies, close call last nite, and the promos for next week don't look good for them. And can someone explain to me why Fran decided to do the bungee jump when she was so afraid - and Barry even said this is the one thing she did not want to do.

You have to decide between the 2 of you which one does the detour BEFORE they find out the details and they cannot switch once it's decided.

for some reason Fodors pulled the Amazing Race thread I started last night. I think it wa because there was a curse word in it. I was quoting what Michelle had said to Lake when he was being his typical jerk self.

Sandi, your thread is still there, and active. The subject line is misleading "Don't forget! Amazing Race's new time and day"

I was so worried about the "Hippies" too! They are my team to win! Def agree with Lake being a jerk. I am so glad they are off. I do wish that they would put the time they checked in at the bottom of the screen. I hate waiting until the next week to see how far ahead some teams are.

Great episode last night. I was worried for the hippies too! It was hilarious when they were with the wrestler--all the other guys standing around and just cracking up laughing.

I've been to Nemea (where those contests took place). It's a neat site, very overlooked. The stadium is very well preserved, as you could see on the show, but there is also an excellent archaeological museum and nice ruins of a Temple of Zeus. The excavations there are conducted by a team from Berkeley. Every four years, to coincide with the Olympics, they actually have amateur events in the ancient stadium(footraces) that anyone can join. If you Google "Nemea" you'll find the Berkeley excavation homepage with info about that and about the site.

Does anyone know if there are going to be any non elimination rounds this season? I hope so - it doesn't look too good for BJ and Tyler next week!

I'm so happy that Lake and Michelle are gone! I think Michelle must realize how they were going to come off because at the end she said that they were just doing the best they could to hold their relationship together and that they weren't perfect.

What about Eric and Jeremy jumping on all those plates after they completed the fast forward and smashing them? They are so immature. Someone has to clean that up! I know it was a big mess to begin with, but they didn't have to make it worse.

I hope Fran and Barry are next to go. Barry keeps looking worse in my eyes. Yes, they do have to decide who will do a detour before they read all the details, but it was pretty obvious it was going to be a bungee. Fran was even saying how much she didn't want to do it. The only excuse I could think of was maybe Barry had a medical condition so he couldn't do it - but it would have been nice if he'd pointed that out.

Fingers crossed that BJ and Tyler can pull through next week!

Oh, and I honeymooned in Greece this past summer. It was wonderful to see it again!

I couldn't see the show last night because I was at the ball game. I just got done reading the re-cap at the CBS site, and it looks like I missed one of the best episodes yet! Darn! But at least I wasn't worrying last night if the "hippies" were going to be eliminated. That would have been too much!

But, really, a fast forward for the frat boys? Seriously? Does it seem to anyone else that these two just sort of show up and expend no effort at all? All the while everyone else is running around like mad? I'm waiting for these two to take a serious fall and really begin having to race for a change. Or be eliminated would be better. Just my .02.

I think Eric and Jeremy are good racers. They are consistently at the top of the leaderboard. They weren't the only team to attempt the Fast Forward last night, just the first to find it. YOu can't blame the teams for the producer's inability to design a somewhat more difficult Fast Forward. It only looks like they're not putting effort into racing because they're doing it so well.

Amazing to see Ray and Yolanda actually read a map and not get lost. Maybe all their maps should be in Greek!

Joseph and Monica are also good racers, even though Monica's tendency to cry when she gets frustrated is annoying.

I couldn't take much more of Lake and Michelle so I'm glad they're gone. Maybe next week we'll see the end of Fran and Barry, though I would think there has to be a non-elim next week. I've expected one for the last two weeks!

I just posted on the other thread: But I wonder if Lake will lose patients because of his behavior. I wouldn't want to go to a jerk whoe acts like that. Plus, I could have sworn he called his wife a b---h! He was ranting at the beginning of the show saying SOB etc. Then I thought he called her one. Glad he's gone.

The fast forward was a joke.

At this stage of the Race the FF should be more challenging than simply beaking plates. Ridiculous.

Same goes for the 'Da vinci code' puzzle. That it amounted to was a shameless plug for the movie, and a populist but mediocre book.

There is at least one more non-elim round and if the series is true to form, one will be at the second last round, to make the finale 2 hours.

Couldn't believe it near the beginning when Lake called his wife a certain derogatory term that rhymes with 'which'.

Hope that BJ&T pull up their socks now, though I can't fault E&J for playing a good game too.
